Featuring this relatively rare De Ville reference from 1972, inspired by the visionary designs of Andrew Grima, regarded as one of the most fashionable and influential jewellery designers of the 1960s. For decades, collectors have affectionately referred to this model as the “Super-Émeraude” while its more familiar street name “Sugar Cube” comes from the chunky, architectural proportions of its case. To add on, the cross section of the case resemble a roof of a pagoda. True to Grima’s design language, the watch features an emerald cut sapphire crystal with sharply faceted surfaces, catching and reflecting light much like a finely cut gemstone. Produced for only a very short period, this is a particularly uncommon reference to encounter on the market, one that genuinely lives up to the term “rare.”
